The People Who Hold the Standard.

Coaches who train what they coach. They write the programming, scale it to whoever walks in, and stay on the floor for the whole session.

I've been coaching for twelve years, and I've competed in MMA, powerlifting, CrossFit and HYROX along the way. Outside REP I run Built By Riz, where I coach working professionals across Malaysia and Singapore. Before all of this I worked in sales and business development, so I know exactly what a 60-hour week feels like. I lived it too.

Most of the people I coach are fitting training around a full week of work. I'd rather give you three sessions you can hold down than five that look better written out.

Fun fact I will defend eating Korean fried chicken with mayo to my last breath, Kyochon honey wings specifically. My girlfriend says I look like a grumpy uncle, but I'm actually soft as a teddy bear who loves cats. Debatable.

I came to coaching from [PLACEHOLDER: KK's background, the sport or the job before this] and I've been on the floor for [PLACEHOLDER: how many years]. The longer I do it, the more time I spend on the first ten minutes of someone's session.

I've always believed that movement is medicine, no matter which stage in life you're in. My coaching style is patient, detail oriented, and focused on helping you master the basics before chasing numbers on the bar.

I tend to be meticulous with movement quality because to me, technique comes first so that my clients get better performance and fewer injuries. My goal isn't just to help you train harder. It's to help you train smarter, move with confidence, and become stronger for life.

People often tell me that I look fierce when they first meet me but don't let my resting gym face fool you. Underneath that, I'm a softie who genuinely cares about my clients' and members' journey.

Fun fact I used to be a mermaid performer, performing underwater for events. Yes, doing stunts underwater used to be my thing.

I'm a HYROX athlete, fitness coach and strength enthusiast with a background in competitive swimming and strength training. I discovered hybrid racing in 2023 and competed in my first hybrid competition in Bangkok before finding HYROX in early 2024. Since then I've competed at an international level, including a podium finish at HYROX Incheon 2024, racing in the Pro category at the HYROX World Championships in Nice, and representing Malaysia twice at the HYROX Open Championships as part of the National Relay team.

My training is centred around strength, endurance and functional fitness, with a strong focus on helping people build the physical capacity and confidence to perform at their best.

As a coach, my goal is to make fitness feel accessible and achievable for everyone, not just people who already consider themselves fit or athletic. I want to help everyday people become stronger, fitter and more confident versions of themselves, while showing them that progress is about more than just what happens on the scoreboard or the scale.

The gym gave me confidence and changed the way I viewed what I was capable of. I want to create that same experience for the people I coach.

Fun fact I've competed in endurance events around the world, but I still don't know how to ride a bicycle.

I've been coaching for about nine years now, and honestly, it all started simply because I loved martial arts. I never really planned for coaching to become such a big part of my life, but here we are. Over the years, I've jumped into different training scenes, from martial arts, to bootcamps (because who doesn't love a good pump?), then CrossFit during COVID, and now HYROX. My training background is mainly rooted in Strength & Conditioning and Olympic Weightlifting, but I've always enjoyed exploring different ways to train.

What I enjoy most about coaching isn't just getting someone stronger or fitter. It's watching people do things they never thought they could. Seeing someone hit their first PR, nail a movement they've been struggling with, become stronger, or simply feel better about themselves, those moments are what make coaching so rewarding for me.

The smile on their face when they achieve something becomes a smile on mine too. Nine years in, I'm still learning, still training, still figuring things out and still having a lot of fun doing what I love.

I'm a former state swimmer turned national triathlete and a certified personal trainer. I started as a competitive swimmer before finding my way into strength training, running, and eventually triathlon, and what began as a new challenge turned into a journey that led me to represent Malaysia on the international stage. Before pursuing triathlon at a high level I worked as a personal trainer and group fitness coach, so I coach from both sides now.

That's what excites me about coaching HYROX. It combines strength, endurance, running, power and mental resilience, and most importantly, it gives everyone something to work towards, no matter their starting point.

My coaching style is energetic, encouraging, and a little competitive. I love creating an environment where people feel comfortable challenging themselves, while still having fun along the way. I'll push you when you need it, but I also want you to learn how to move well, pace yourself, and train with purpose.

I believe you don't have to be a professional athlete to train like one. Show up, put in the work, trust the process, and you might surprise yourself with what you're capable of.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Request a Specific Coach?

For personal training, yes, pick the coach you want and book with them. Classes are led by whoever is on the timetable for that slot, and the programming is the same whoever takes it.

What If I've Never Lifted Before?

Then you start where you are. Every class scales, and the coach will set your loads in the first session rather than leaving you to guess. Most people's first week is lighter than they expect and harder than they expect at the same time.

Do Coaches Work Around Injuries?

Yes. Tell the coach before the session and they'll swap movements to work around it. For anything ongoing, book a PT consult first so the plan accounts for it properly rather than substituting on the fly every week.

Are the Coaches Certified?

Every coach on the floor holds a recognised coaching qualification plus first aid, and the HYROX formats are led by coaches who train and race the event themselves.

Coach at REP.

We're opening at Glo Damansara and we're still building the team. If you coach well, scale honestly, and want a floor with the kit to back you up, we want to hear from you.

No specific openings listed right now. We still read every application that comes in.
